"The Office" Spinoff Starring Rainn Wilson is in the Works
According to Deadline, NBC is working on an Office spinoff that will star Rainn Wilson. Fans of the show will know that Wilson plays Dwight Schrute, the assistant to the Regional Manager.
The show will be set at Schrute Farms, a beet farm and bed & breakfast. A source close to The Office says, "Paul [Lieberstein] and Rainn have been joking for years about Dwight's life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is to run a B&B." NBC liked their idea and are working on making it happen.
Wilson and Lieberstein ("Toby" and executive producer) are set to executive produce the spinoff which is set for a launch in midseason of 2013. The potential spinoff will be introduced during an episode of The Office later this season.

The Razzies Shake Up Their Schedule
On Tuesday, January 24th, the nominations for the 84th Academy Awards were announced. The day before, the nominations for the 32nd Razzie Awards were supposed to be announced. That didn't happen because this year, the co-owners of the Razzies, John Wilson and Mo Murphy, decided to shake things up.
This year, April Fool's Day will fall on a Sunday, so it's been decided that the winners will be announced on that day. The nominations will be announced on the eve of the Oscars, Saturday, February 25th.
In the statement, the change is explained:
"When they got a look at the 2012 calendar, John Wilson and Mo Murphy, co-owners of the RAZZIES, saw a unique opportunity to do something they’ve wanted to do since their awards were created in 1980: Emphasize the RAZZIES’ comedic intent by unveiling the “winners” of Tinsel Town’s Tackiest Trophy on APRIL FOOLS’ DAY (Sunday, April 1, 2012)."The Razzies "honor" the worst achievement in film...in a light-hearted way, of course. Last year, The Last Airbender "won" for Worst Picture of 2010. Something tells me that Jack and Jill is going to take home that honor this year. We'll find out on April Fool's Day!

Happy Friday the 13th
Happy Friday the 13th!
With it being Friday the 13th, I'll be watching one of the movies from the Friday the 13th series. I'm kind of leaning towards Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984). Of course, most know that it wasn't the final chapter for Jason because he comes back for a few more sequels.

Impractical Jokers
A couple months ago, I saw a commercial for a new show called Impractical Jokers on TruTV. I thought it looked funny, so I caught the premiere on December 15th. It wasn't funny...it was hilarious! So far, eight episodes have aired and all have cracked me up. I highly recommend the show which is why I'm featuring it on my blog.
Here is the premise of the show from the website:
"They have to SAY it. They have to DO it. You have to SEE it. Once you start watching, you just can't stop! Q, Sal, Joe and Murr have entertained each other for years with the most hilarious dares they could imagine. Now you get to watch them in a series of outrageous stunts (recorded by hidden cameras) to make each other (and you) howl with laughter. You gotta see this to believe it!"
One of my favorite challenges is when they are cashiers at Costco and are told by the others what to say and/or do to the customers in line.
Check it out if you haven't. It airs on Thursdays at 10pm on TruTV. To get you started and give you an idea of what you're in for, here is a clip.

A Director Has Been Found for the "Police Academy" Remake
It looks like the remake of Police Academy (1984) might actually happen because Deadline is reporting that New Line has hired Scott Zabielski to direct.
This will be Zabielski's first time directing a feature film, but he does have directing experience seeing that he has directed several episodes of Tosh.0.
These movies were no Oscar contenders, but I found them to be fun and hilarious in a mindless entertainment type of way which is why I've enjoyed the majority of them. I say majority because I haven't seen Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994) because I've heard it's the worst of the series, so I've stayed away from it. Anyways, I really don't think a remake would work, but the original will always be there, so a remake doesn't bother me.
Just because I can, I'm going to post the trailer for the original.

Sequel to "Bridesmaids" Could Happen...Without Kristen Wiig
Universal is thinking about doing a sequel to Bridesmaids, but it would be done without star and co-writer Kristen Wiig.
The Hollywood Reporter talked to Wiig about whether she and her co-writer, Annie Mumolo, are working on a sequel.
"We aren't working on that. Annie and I aren't planning a sequel. We are writing something else."Why isn't she and her writing partner working on a sequel to the box office hit? The word is that Wiig and her co-stars (Maya Rudolph, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy and Rose Byrne) weren't too happy with a bonus of only $100,000 which they and others felt was pretty low considering how much the film made. Wiig declined to comment when asked if she was disappointed with the bonus.
With Wiig out, Universal isn't giving up hope for a sequel according to a rep for the studio.
"We are over the moon with the success of Bridesmaids, and if we do a sequel we want to get it right. We are talking to filmmakers now about concepts, and if the right one emerges, we'll move forward."On a budget of $32 million, the film grossed $288 worldwide. The film has received award nominations including the Golden Globes where it's been nominated for Best Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical.
As much as I loved Bridesmaids, I really don't think a sequel is necessary. Would I watch it if it did happen? Sure, but without Wiig and Mumolo on board as writers, I won't be expecting anything close to the original.
