It looks like the remake of Police Academy (1984) might actually happen because Deadline is reporting that New Line has hired Scott Zabielski to direct.
This will be Zabielski's first time directing a feature film, but he does have directing experience seeing that he has directed several episodes of Tosh.0.
These movies were no Oscar contenders, but I found them to be fun and hilarious in a mindless entertainment type of way which is why I've enjoyed the majority of them. I say majority because I haven't seen Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (1994) because I've heard it's the worst of the series, so I've stayed away from it. Anyways, I really don't think a remake would work, but the original will always be there, so a remake doesn't bother me.
