The Razzies Shake Up Their Schedule

On Tuesday, January 24th, the nominations for the 84th Academy Awards were announced. The day before, the nominations for the 32nd Razzie Awards were supposed to be announced. That didn't happen because this year, the co-owners of the Razzies, John Wilson and Mo Murphy, decided to shake things up.

This year, April Fool's Day will fall on a Sunday, so it's been decided that the winners will be announced on that day. The nominations will be announced on the eve of the Oscars, Saturday, February 25th.

In the statement, the change is explained:
"When they got a look at the 2012 calendar, John Wilson and Mo Murphy, co-owners of the RAZZIES, saw a unique opportunity to do something they’ve wanted to do since their awards were created in 1980: Emphasize the RAZZIES’ comedic intent by unveiling the “winners” of Tinsel Town’s Tackiest Trophy on APRIL FOOLS’ DAY (Sunday, April 1, 2012)."
The Razzies "honor" the worst achievement in film...in a light-hearted way, of course. Last year, The Last Airbender "won" for Worst Picture of 2010. Something tells me that Jack and Jill is going to take home that honor this year. We'll find out on April Fool's Day!
