Movie Recommendation of the Week: "Drive" (2011)

My movie recommendation of the week:

Drive (2011)
Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn

From Netflix: "A Hollywood stuntman who moonlights as a getaway driver is lured from his isolated life by a lovely neighbor and her young son. His newfound peace is shattered, however, when her violent husband is released from prison."

Choosing a film from last week to recommend was tough because I saw three that I feel were worthy of a recommendation. I decided to go with Drive because I was pretty much mesmerized from beginning to end. Ryan Gosling was excellent and the perfect choice to play Driver. The story, direction and soundtrack were all great. I can't recommend this film enough. I will say that there is some shocking and graphic violence, so if that's a problem for some people, they may just want to stay away.

From reading reviews on Netflix, this a film that people either love or hate. People who hated it said it was boring, slow and didn't have much action. While I disagree with them, it's their opinion and I have mine, so that's that. One woman in Michigan went so far as to sue the distributor, FilmDistrict, claiming that the trailer was misleading and gave her the impression that it was going to be similar to Fast and Furious. She was disappointed to find out that she ended up watching an art film with some action. I have a feeling her lawsuit is going to be thrown out and it should be because it's a frivolous lawsuit.
