Jane Levy, star of ABC's Suburgatory, is currently in talks to star in the upcoming remake of The Evil Dead. Lily Collins was originally set to star, but dropped out recently.Levy will play Mia, the character who will be similar to the character Ash (played by Bruce Campbell) from the original 1981 horror film. In the remake, Mia and five others make their way to a cabin in the woods where evil awaits. Mia is recovering from an overdose which, in turn, makes her even more vulnerable.
Sam Raimi (writer/director of the original) and Campbell are set to produce along with Rob Tapert. Fede Alvarez will be directing. While Alvarez co-wrote the script with Rodo Sayagues, the latest draft has been written by Diablo Cody (Juno and Young Adult).
The movie has been given a release date of April 12, 2013.
