Obligatory Spoiler Warning! Warning... warning... warning... possible spoilers ahead! Turn back now if you don't want to know what to expect when it comes to Callie and Arizona in the season 10 premiere of Grey's Anatomy!
Sara Ramirez (Dr. Callie Torres) took time to do an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about her character and what the future possibly could hold for Callie and Arizona (Calzona) when season 10 of Grey's Anatomy begins on September 26th at 9pm on ABC.
What to expect from her character during the season 10 premiere (which will take off pretty much right where the season 9 finale ended):
"Initially, we see Callie in a very reactive state and she's very open about what she's feeling. She's not taking it well; she's enraged, she's broken-hearted, she's devastated."
When it comes to the Callie and Arizona:
"Callie and Arizona have a lot of work to do but they have to get past the first initial reactive acting out-type stuff that people typically go through."
If/When they do rekindle the relationship, could a legal marriage (Washington has since legalized same-sex marriage) happen?
"Shonda's passionate about reflecting back to the audience about the world that we live in. Whether she's going to do that with Callie and Arizona I don't know, or through other characters maybe. But I've heard her talk about how great it would be to seize marriage equality and a [legalized] marriage occur. That would be amazing. So much is changing and so quickly. We're living in a really great time."
The article does note that Arizona will be trying very hard to engage Callie in anyway she can during the two-hour season 10 premiere, but it appears that Callie may not want to talk to her because she is so angry/heartbroken, etc. which is understandable. However, I think at some point, Callie will listen to Arizona, but they will still separate and take time to think about what each of them really wants and of course, Arizona will have to seek help with her issues (PTSD and her resentment towards Callie for breaking her promise). After that, then they can work on their relationship if that's what they want.
Click HERE to read the rest of the interview over at The Hollywood Reporter and I highly recommend you do because it's a good read and I think it could ease some of the bad feelings that Calzona fans could be having about the couple's future. Hopefully more and more hints/spoilers will be released soon as a way to completely take away all of the bad feelings about Calzona being done for good. Keeping fingers crossed!
