Yep, you read that right, there will be another Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. *insert cheers or groans here*
The title is not set as it was announced to be Leatherface 3D, but it's currently casting under the name Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D. No matter what the title will be, the 3D isn't going anywhere. *insert cheers or groans here* Moving away from the title, as it was previously mentioned, casting is currently underway with filming set to begin sometime in June in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The movie is supposed to be a direct sequel to the 1974 classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that was directed by Tobe Hooper. It will follow Heather, the lead character, who travels with some friends to Texas so she can collect an inheritance. However, at some point, the film will then flash forward 35 years.
It appears that Lionsgate is hoping for a new franchise with Leatherface and his family because the actress who lands the role of Heather will be locked in for multiple sequels. The same can be said for the actors who are chosen to play Sheriff Hooper, Fransworth and Deputy Carl Hartman.
John Luessenhop (Takers) is in talks to direct with the script written by Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco.
