Trailer for "Shark Night 3D"

On September 2nd, Shark Night 3D will hit theaters. The title alone should tell you what kind of flick to expect, a fun (I hope!) and campy horror movie that will not be winning any awards.

The director is David R. Ellis. He brought us the classics Snakes on a Plane and The Final Destination, so that should be a second clue as to what to expect if one chooses to watch this upcoming horror flick. I'll admit it, I'll probably end up watching it, but I'll go to a matinee showing.

The cast includes Sara Paxton (Sydney White and The Last House on the Left), Chris Carmack (The O.C. and Into the Blue 2), Joel David Moore (Avatar and Dodgeball) and Chris Zylka (Piranha 3DD).

Here is the synopsis:

"...the story revolves around seven men and women who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana's Gulf area. Their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks. Unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals."

"Titanic" in 3D Gets Release Date

On April 6, 2012, "Titanic" (1997) will be re-released worldwide in 3D. The release will mark the 100th anniversary of when the Titanic set sail on April 10, 1912.

The film is the second highest grossing movie of all-time and won 11 Academy Awards that included Best Picture and Best Director.

Overseeing the 3D conversion will be James Cameron (wrote, produced and directed the film) and Jon Landau, Cameron's Lightstorm producing partner.

Here's what Cameron had to say in a statement:

"There's a whole generation that's never seen ‘TITANIC’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. And this will be ‘TITANIC’ as you've never seen it before, digitally re-mastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike."

The sinking of the RMS Titanic is one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. The passenger liner hit an iceberg on April 14, 1912 on its maiden voyage and sank the following morning, which resulted in 1,517 deaths.

"Bloodsport" Remake is Happening

Another remake is on its this way and this time, the 1988 Jean-Claude Van Damme flick "Bloodsport" is getting the remake treatment.

No word on casting as of yet, but a director has been found, Philip Noyce (Salt). The script will be written by Robert Mark Kamen (The Karate Kid and Taken).

Apparently, the story is about "an American who goes to Brazil to recover from the violence he has experienced in Afghanistan who gets involved in a martial arts contest."

Trailer for the Remake of "Fright Night"

The trailer for the remake of Fright Night has been released. It's set to hit theaters on August 19, 2011.

Synopsis from Collider.com:
"Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.  Fright Night also stars David Tennant (as Peter Vincent) and Imogen Poots (as Charley’s girlfriend Amy)."

Happy Friday the 13th!

Happy Friday the 13th to all!

I'm sure some are wondering why I'm even wishing everyone a Happy Friday the 13th? Well, with me being a horror fan, it gives me an opportunity to plug one of my favorite horror franchises and to not think that's it's a day of bad luck because it's not or that's how I see it.

With it being Friday the 13th today, I'll be watching one of the movies from the Friday the 13th movie series. I'm thinking about watching Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives. A good choice, if I do say so myself. :)

Thomas Ian Nicholas Signs on for "American Reunion"

Thomas Ian Nicholas has signed on for American Reunion.

Also set to reprise their roles are Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Eugene Levy, Chris Klein, Tara Reid, Mena Suvari and Eddie Kaye Thomas. Looks like everyone is back...almost.

Despite being part of the negotiations, there has been no mention of Jennifer Coolidge coming back. Either she turned down the chance to reprise her role as Stifler's mom or negotiations are ongoing. Since news broke of American Reunion happening, there has been no mention at all, from what I have read, about Universal talking to Shannon Elizabeth or Natasha Lyonne to see if they would be willing to reprise their roles. However, with The Hollywood Reporter saying that Nicholas was considered to be the last remaining hold out, it might be safe to say that these three will not be a part of the movie.

Filming is set to begin on May 24th. The release date for the film is April 6, 2012.

Leatherface is Coming Back...In 3D

Yep, you read that right, there will be another Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. *insert cheers or groans here*

The title is not set as it was announced to be Leatherface 3D, but it's currently casting under the name Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D. No matter what the title will be, the 3D isn't going anywhere. *insert cheers or groans here* Moving away from the title, as it was previously mentioned, casting is currently underway with filming set to begin sometime in June in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The movie is supposed to be a direct sequel to the 1974 classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, that was directed by Tobe Hooper. It will follow Heather, the lead character, who travels with some friends to Texas so she can collect an inheritance. However, at some point, the film will then flash forward 35 years.

It appears that Lionsgate is hoping for a new franchise with Leatherface and his family because the actress who lands the role of Heather will be locked in for multiple sequels. The same can be said for the actors who are chosen to play Sheriff Hooper, Fransworth and Deputy Carl Hartman.

John Luessenhop (Takers) is in talks to direct with the script written by Debra Sullivan, Adam Marcus and Stephen Susco.

Trailer for "Final Destination 5"

The trailer for Final Destination 5 has been released.

Here is the official synopsis from Warner Bros./New Line:

"In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda."

The movie stars Nicholas D'Agosto (Fired Up! and Election), Emma Bell (Frozen and The Walking Dead), David Koechner (Anchorman and Waiting...), Tony Todd (Final Destination and Candyman) and Courtney B. Vance (Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Dangerous Minds).

Final Destination 5 will hit theaters on August 12th in 3D.

My thoughts: I'll watch when it's released, but it's not because I think it will be good. I'll be going because I think the Final Destination movies are fun and I'm always interested to see how the victims are killed because they tend to be creative and pretty gruesome. Creepy and weird, I know, but I can't be the only one....I hope.

Check out the trailer below.

Poster Art for The Toxic Avenger 5

With Cannes 2011 coming up, Troma has released the poster art for The Toxic Avenger 5: The Toxic Twins. Troma will be at Cannes with hopes to get some buyers for the flick.

Lloyd Kaufman (President & Co-Founder of Troma) is set to direct with a script written by Collyn McCoy. The sequel will follow our hero, Toxie, as he deals with fatherhood and keeps the peace in Tromaville.

The Toxic Avenger is my favorite Troma flick, so I'm really hoping that some buyers will step forward and let this sequel happen because I'm all for another Toxic Avenger film.

Just for fun, here is the trailer for The Toxic Avenger (1984):
