Dumb and Dumber Sequel Could Happen

Bobby Farrelly, half of the Farrelly brothers (Peter being the other half), spoke to Moviehole at the Hall Pass junket and mentioned that a sequel to 1994's Dumb and Dumber could happen.

“[Dumb and Dumber] has run a bunch of times on TV in the states, and kids will come up and they’ll be able to quote lines from that – lines that I’ve long forgotten. If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a worthwhile sequel – and that ball is in motion. We’re starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing twenty-years later in life, and hopefully we’ll be able to come up with something worthy of a sequel."
I love Dumb and Dumber and would welcome a sequel if Carrey and Daniels agree to be a part of it, but a big part of me thinks that's not going to happen, so I'll save my excitement for when/if it's officially announced.

While on the subject of Dumb and Dumber, here are a couple of my favorite scenes:

Teaser Trailer for The Hangover Part II

Here it is, the teaser trailer for The Hangover Part II, which will hit theaters on May 26, 2011.

Another Image from The Hangover Part II and Trailer News

Recently, another image from The Hangover Part II was released. Just as I did with the previous two images, I'm going to say that it may contain spoilers, so you've been warned. It'll be posted at the end of this entry.

There is also some news about when we're finally going to see a trailer from director/co-writer Todd Phillips.

From MTV:

"We have a teaser trailer that I just finished color for yesterday night, so that'll come out next week," Todd Phillips told MTV News on Friday (February 18) while promoting the DVD release of "Due Date." "And I think it comes out in theaters on 'Hall Pass,' which should be next Friday."

While Phillips wouldn't dish details about what we'll actually see in the teaser, he did emphasize that fans should temper their expectations: The footage will hardly offer a comprehensive dive into what the film is all about. "It's truly a teaser, so it might end up frustrating more than solving questions," he told us. "I love it. It's a true tease, if that makes sense. It's just one of those things that's gonna make you go, 'OK, let's see what more they have.' It's to pique interest and to remind people what's coming down the pike."

I was planning on seeing Hall Pass (February 25th) opening weekend, so hopefully the trailer will be attached because I would like to check it out even though I'm not expecting much since it's just a teaser.

The Hangover Part II will be released in theaters on May 26, 2011.

Scream Trilogy Going Blu-Ray

Thanks to a long-term deal made between Lionsgate, Studiocanal and Miramax, over 550 films from the Miramax library will be released on Blu-Ray. The Scream trilogy is among the films and will be released on Blu-Ray in April 2011, which is no surprise since Scream 4 has a theatrical release date of April 15, 2011.

So far, two other titles have been announced along with the Scream trilogy and they are The Switch (March 15, 2011) and Pulp Fiction (June 2011). More titles will be announced down the road.

Being a fan of Scream and its sequels (yes, I like them all even though the sequels aren't as good as the first, in my opinion), I'm definitely looking forward to getting the films on Blu-Ray. However, part of me feels that it's going to be a bare-bones release, so it might be better to wait for a Special Edition Blu-Ray (if that ever happens), which would have some new special features. I'll just have to wait until the news about what's going to be included along with the films is announced before I make the final decision on whether to buy or not.

Bridesmaids (2011) Trailer

From Bridesmaids official website: This spring, producer Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad) and director Paul Feig (creator of Freaks and Geeks) invite you to experience Bridesmaids. Kristen Wiig leads the cast as Annie, a maid of honor whose life unravels as she leads her best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), and a group of colorful bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to matrimony.

Annie’s life is a mess. But when she finds out her lifetime best friend is engaged, she simply must serve as Lillian’s maid of honor. Though lovelorn and broke, Annie bluffs her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals. With one chance to get it perfect, she’ll show Lillian and her bridesmaids just how far you’ll go for someone you love.

After seeing the trailer and the actresses/actors that are involved in this movie, I'm sold and will be checking it out when it's released because, to me, it looks hilarious. It should also be mentioned that this is Wiig's first starring role (it'll be interesting to see if she can carry a film and I think she will do just fine) and she co-wrote it with Annie Mumolo.

Bridesmaids opens May 13, 2011.

"Blubberella" (2011) - Trailer and Poster

"The first female fat superhero...She will kick major ass - with her major ass..."

Sometime this year, a movie called "Blubberella" will be released. The director is none other than Uwe Boll ("Bloodrayne" and "House of the Dead"). Here is where I'll pause for either laughter or sighing, depending on your view of Boll.

...Moving on...

So anyways, not much is known about the movie, but after watching the trailer, here is what I got - Blubberella is half-human and half-vampire, who kills Nazis. Do you need to know more? I thought not.

The cast includes Lindsay Hollister, Clint Howard, Michael Pare and Brendan Fletcher. Oh yeah, Boll will have a role in his own movie as Hitler. In fact, you'll see a little clip of him if you watch the trailer.

Blu-Ray/DVD Releases I'm Looking Forward To...February Edition

"Due Date" (2010) - February 22, 2011

Plot: Peter has five days to make it home in order to be present when his son his born. When something goes wrong at the airport, he accepts a ride from Ethan and it's a ride that he'll soon regret because mishaps and delays occur in a comedic way, of course.

Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, Michelle Monaghan, Jamie Foxx, Juliette Lewis and Danny McBride.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to see this movie in theaters, but I've heard good things about it, so I'll probably pick it up on the release date.

"Stand By Me" (1986) - March 22, 2011

Plot: Four friends go out in search for the body of a missing teenager.

Cast: River Phoenix, Wil Wheaton, Corey Feldman, Jerry O'Connell and Kiefer Sutherland

A 25th Anniversary Edition will be released on March 22nd, but it looks like it's a Blu-Ray only release. This is one of my all-time favorite films, so I'll be buying the Blu-Ray. One of the Special Features is 25 Years Later: A Picture-in-Picture Commentary Retrospective with Director Rob Reiner and Actors Wil Wheaton & Corey Feldman.

Trailer for "Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver" (2011)

In my first official post back in October 2010, I mentioned the Gingerdead Man series and how a third movie was in the works. Well, the trailer for "The Gingerdead Man: Saturday Night Cleaver" was recently released and in this one, the Gingerdead Man is sent back in time to the days of disco, 1976 to be exact, which means disco is doomed! No release date has been given, but it should be in the next few months or so.
