Horror Movies to Watch This Valentine's Day

For some, Valentine's Day will be a day filled with flowers and chocolates, but for others like me, it'll be a day/night that I settle in and watch a horror movie or two...with one being a Valentine's Day themed flick. Yes, I'm single, but even when I was in a relationship, I was never that big into Valentine's Day because of how highly commercialized it is. Plus, if you want to do something big and/or romantic for your significant other, then why wait for Valentine's Day? Just do it on any random day...just because. Okay, enough of my little rant...let's get on with a couple horror movie recommendations to watch on or around Valentine's Day.

My Bloody Valentine (1981)
"Cross your heart...and hope to die."

Directed by George Mihalka
Starring: Paul Kelman, Lori Hallier and Neil Affleck

"A decades old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine's Day, turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer's order and people start turning up dead." (IMDB.com)

One of my favorite 80's slasher flicks and while it's a little on the cheesy side, I found it to be better than the 2009 remake.

High Tension (2003)
"Hearts will bleed."

"Two college friends, Marie and Alexa, encounter loads of trouble (and blood) while on vacation at Alexa's parents' country home when a mysterious killer invades their quiet getaway." (IMDB.com)

The less you know about this film going into it, the better which is why I won't say anything. However, I will say that it did scare the hell out me (just like the poster says!). It's brutal, shocking and intense.
