Deadline is reporting that MGM has officially offered Julianne Moore a role in Kimberly Peirce's remake of the 1976 horror film Carrie.If Moore accepts the role and I think she will, she'll play Margaret White, Carrie's "nightmarish religious fanatic mother." In the original, the role was played by Piper Laurie which landed her an Oscar nomination.
Chloe Moretz is signed on to play Carrie. It should be noted that Sissy Spacek earned an Oscar nomination for her role as Carrie in the original.
Peirce is directing with Kevin Misher serving as a producer. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the script which is more faithful to the 1974 Stephen King novel than the original.
