Trailer and Synopsis for "Rubber" (2011)

Thanks to Infini-Tropolis, I learned about a film that's going to have a limited released on April 1, 2011 (will be available On Demand starting February 25, 2011). The film is called "Rubber" and here is the synopsis from the film's website:

RUBBER is the story of Robert, an inanimate tire that has been abandoned in the desert, and suddenly and inexplicably comes to life. As Robert roams the bleak landscape, he discovers that he possesses terrifying telepathic powers that give him the ability to destroy anything he wishes without having to move. At first content to prey on small desert creatures and various discarded objects, his attention soon turns to humans, especially a beautiful and mysterious woman who crosses his path. Leaving a swath of destruction across the desert landscape, Robert becomes a chaotic force to be reckoned with, and truly a movie villain for the ages. Directed by legendary electro musician Quentin Dupieux (Steak, Nonfilm), aka Mr. Oizo, RUBBER is a smart, funny and wholly original tribute to the cinematic concept of "no reason."

Yep, you read that right, "Rubber" is about a tire that kills. I'm sure there are some out there thinking that it's can't be real (I was one of them, at first), but I'm telling you, this is a legit film as it has already had showings at numerous film festivals around the world that included France, Germany and Finland.

Will I be seeing it? Absolutely! After viewing the trailer, I have to see this movie! It looks like it's going to be one of those movies that's so bad in a hilarious and weird way, it's good.

I picked out two snubs right away: Mila Kunis not being nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in "Black Swan" and Christopher Nolan not being nominated in the Best Directing category for "Inception". I'm sure there are more, but those are the two that caught my eye first. On the plus side, it's nice to see "True Grit" get some love after being completely shut out at the Golden Globes.

First Strike Map Pack for CoD: Black Ops

On February 1st, the First Strike map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops will be available for download on the Xbox 360. The cost will be 1200 Microsoft points. The map pack will be available on March 1st for those who have the game for the PS3, Wii or PC.

The map pack will consist of five new maps. Of these maps, four will be multiplayer maps and the other is a zombie map called Ascension. The names of the four multiplayer maps are Kowloon, Discovery, Berlin Wall and Stadium. Apparently, no footage has been released of the zombie map, but what is known (thanks to CoD: Black Ops Blog) is that it takes place in an abandoned Soviet cosmodome where you come across some new enemies, but you also get some new weapons (Matryoshka Dolls and the Gersch Device or “Black Hole Bomb”) and perks (Stamin-Up and PhD Flopper). Information about the weapons and perks have not been made available, as far as I know, but that will be found out soon enough.

Early Plot Synopsis (via Bloody-Disgusting): In "Scream 4", Sidney Prescott, now the author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey and Gale, who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (played by Emma Roberts) and her Aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately Sidney’s appearance also brings about the return of Ghostface, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends, and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.

Two New Images From "The Hangover, Part II" (2011)

A few days ago, two new images from "The Hangover, Part II" were released. I'm going to post them here, but before I do, I want to warn everyone that the images could contain spoilers for those who want to go into the movie knowing as little as possible or at least until the trailer is released because I'm pretty sure the trailer will show many spoilers.

I posted the first official image and synopsis back in November, so I'll include the link for those who have yet to see it and would like to check them out. I feel that this image doesn't contain spoilers as it's just a group shot of the four stars at the airport.

Who's Playing Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises?

Anne Hathaway, that's who. 

She has landed the role of Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman) in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises", which is slated to be released on July 20, 2012.

Here is a portion of the statement from Warner Bros. courtesy of Deadline.com:

BURBANK, CA, January 19, 2011 - Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises." She will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman.

Christopher Nolan stated, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story."

To be honest, I think her being cast as Catwoman can work. Nolan chose Heath Ledger to play The Joker in "The Dark Knight" and it turned out to be a great choice, so I trust his judgement in casting Hathaway. Of course, I'll save my actual judgement for when I see the film next year.

Hathaway did have competition as some of the actresses also up for the part included Rachel Weisz, Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley. I don't think would have had a problem with any of them getting the part if Hathaway didn't.

The statement also revealed the villain Tom Hardy ("Inception") will be playing and that villain is Bane. To be honest, I'm surprised that Bane was chosen as the villain, but it's an interesting choice and I'm looking forward to see how it turns out.
